Local Photographer Mark Gillard’s art is featured in a one man show at DST Coffee here in Gardnerville starting on Monday, January 15th.

His work ranges from landscapes to flora and fauna; historic buildings to his favorite – cows. Mark has enjoyed photography since he was a kid. It remains a passion to this day. His photos are of areas from Mad Canyon’s majestic peaks to Gardnerville’s Meadows, historic locales from Genoa to Virginia City, barns to classic cars.

He travels around Northwestern Nevada capturing images that invite you along with his journeys. “I love venturing about; following my intuition; and coming upon new places as well as acquiring new perspectives on old favorites.”

Mark disconnected from social media three years ago. “Chronicling and posting every experience with photos and writing - motivated by the desire for likes and reposts - threw me out from my actual experience of living. Now, I’m present in my life and open to all the beauty and whimsy around us.”

The artist loves learning. With every outing, he learns something more about the moments and their images. From show to show, he’s learning from his experiences but – especially now – from more experienced artists.

Drop by DST Coffee; treat yourself to coffee, tea, ice cream, pastries and light food offerings; and enjoy Mark’s photography today. “DST Coffee is my home away from home. Owners Amanda and Jake provide a place for lively conversation or just some quiet time to recharge. One of the things I love about DST Coffee is that everyone is welcome.”

DST Coffee is at 1411 Main Street (Highway 395), Gardnerville, NV 89410. Hours: Monday – Saturday 7:00am – 6:00pm; Sunday 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Mark also has pieces up at the New Year’s Members Only Show of the Nevada Artists Association through February 9th. The gallery is located at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 King Street, Carson City, NV. 775.882.6411. “Please come in and enjoy a wide variety of work created by highly talented local artists.” Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 12 Noon to 4:00pm.
