Nevada Dental Association reaches 100 members volunteering for Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program

The Nevada Dental Association is proud to announce it has reached over 100 member dentists volunteering for the Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program. The Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program recruits Nevada dentists and specialists in local communities to provide services to veterans in-need free-of-charge. Since 2010, Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program’s volunteer dentists have provided dental care to more than 1,500 veterans totaling more than eight-million dollars in donated treatment.

“As the president of the Nevada Dental Association, I’m incredibly proud and heartwarmed to know that so many of our members contribute their time to the Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program,” said Dr. Jason Doucette, president of the Nevada Dental Association. “Thank you to all those members for volunteering and to the Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program for seeking funds every session to continue this much needed program.”

“The outpouring of support the Adopt A Vet Dental Program has received from the members of the Nevada Dental Association exceeds anything I’ve ever seen in my 34-year career in healthcare,” said Deme Gonzalez, Executive Director for Adopt A Vet Dental Program, “Our program would not be as successful without the generosity of the participating members.”

Each Nevada Legislative Session, the Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program goes before the legislature to seek funding to provide critical dental care to low-income veterans who cannot afford to see a dentist.

Adopt a Vet Dental Program
The Adopt a Vet Dental Program (AAVD) was founded in April 2010 by Wayne and Linda Haigh in Reno, Nevada. In June 2013, AAVD joined forces and merged with the Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs (NNDHP), the nonprofit arm of the Northern Nevada Dental Society. In August 2019, AAVD became their own nonprofit organization and continue their mission to provide critical dental care to low-income veterans who do not qualify at the VA or cannot afford to see a dentist. A large fire has been reported and spotted on the wildland fire cameras in Lyon County as of Friday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m. the smoke plume was first reported near Speedway and 95A in Lyon County.
