Carson City mayor encourages calm amid coronavirus crisis

Carson City is monitoring Covid-19 issues and working very closely with all of our health-related partners. To date, we have only one reported incident which was determined to be travel related but that is not cause to take this virus lightly.

In light of our new normal of social distancing and self-quarantine in an effort to reduce the risk of spreading C19, the Brewery Arts Center and National Grassroots Concert Series have teamed up to brighten your St. Patrick’s Day and re-stream the outrageously fun concert that took place at Levitt AMP Carson City on The Change Companies Stage last August by The Wicked Tinkers.

Nevada implements 2-tier response to address school meal interruptions caused by closures

UPDATE: Carson City meal sites are expected to begin Tuesday, March 17, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Empire Elementary School, Mark Twain Elementary School, Seeliger Elementary School, and Carson High School.

In light of Governor Sisolak’s announcement to close all K-12 schools in Nevada, the Nevada Department of Agriculture is implementing the first of a two-tier strategy to mitigate National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program interruptions.

Carson City health officials report presumptive positive case of coronavirus

UPDATE 4:06PM: Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) held a press conference Thursday afternoon regarding the first reported presumptive positive case of COVID-19, which is this first reported case in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.

The patient is a woman in her 70s who recently traveled out of the state to San Jose and returned on March 2. She flew on an airplane into Reno-Tahoe International Airport while she was asymptomatic. The plane or airline she traveled with was not disclosed during the conference.

Carson Tahoe Health unveils first ever ‘Karma Boxes’ to help those in need

Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) is unveiling several “Karma Boxes” (wooden/Plexiglas donation cabinets) at its various locations to house toiletries, first-aid items, and nonperishable foods for those in need, all available at any time and at no cost.

This simple, yet powerful concept is best summed up by its slogan, “If it’s empty, fill it. If you need it, it’s yours.”

Carson City's historic 'Adele's' building will not be saved despite donations, volunteers

According to Shannon Cord with the Carson City Historical Society, the historic Adele’s building will not be saved despite the efforts of many volunteers and contributors.

The historic building suffered a fire in 2019 that, due to smoke damage and insurance issues, was not able to be recovered. It was set for demolition, until a group of activists form the Carson City Historical Society sought to save the building and have it moved to a new location.
