Healthy Communities Speakers Address Domestic Violence, Rural Medical Clinics, and Hispanic Heritage Month

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey hosts it’s monthly meeting virtually via Zoom this Thursday October 8 from 9am-11am. Speakers will address three topics during this month’s meeting.

“We did our free clinic at the Community Center, and what a turnout we had; around 100 participants showed up, we had a ton of fun, and we even had high school varsity players help coach the clinic as well” said Carson High School Varsity Basketball coach Jordan Glover.

Events include the South Carson Complete Streets Project groundbreaking ceremony, the International Film Festival held Friday and Saturday at the Carson City Community Center and Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie weekend with door-to-door cookie sales. University of Nevada, Reno to host free clinic in Silver Springs Saturday

The University of Nevada, Reno Student Outreach Clinic will be hosting a Rural Outreach Clinic in Silver Springs this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Screenings and exams include blood pressure and hypertension checks, diabetes screenings, wellness exams, clinical evaluations, as well as child influenza vaccinations.

Js’ Old Town Bistro in Dayton will hold a Spaghetti Feed fundraiser on Tuesday, September 20 from 4 – 8pm to help fund the Remote Area Medical event coming to Lyon County later this month. $15 buys a spaghetti dinner, including salad, and $10 goes directly to help fund the upcoming health event.

HELP NOW: Carson City area health professionals sorely needed for weekend clinic

A health services clinic through Remote Area Medical is happening now through Sunday in Carson City. Organizers said Friday that there is a shortage of health care professionals, including optometrists and any medical support doctors and nurses.

The clinic is being held at Carson High School. It is designed for children, families and the elderly who are without health care, dental health, and vision eye care. Hundreds are expected to participate during the three day free clinic.

Js’ Old Town Bistro in Dayton will host a community fundraising Spaghetti Feed, tonight, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. to help fund the Remote Area Medical events coming to the area later this year. Free drive-thru flu shots offered Nov. 8 at Minden's GE Bently

Miss Friday's free flu shot in Carson City? There's another planned for Saturday, Nov. 8 in Minden. Douglas County Emergency Management and Carson City Health and Human Services, along with several community partners, including the Douglas County Healthcare Coalition, are hosting the free drive-through flu vaccination clinic.

Citizens are invited to stop by the GE Bently parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free flu vaccination. Vehicle staging will begin on Bently Parkway off Buckeye Road. The address is 1631 Bently Parkway South.

Carson City partners with Remote Area Medical's free three-day Reno clinic

Remote Area Medical, an organization dedicated to providing free, quality health care services to those in need, will host a free clinic April 11-13 for adults and children of Northern Nevada.

Groups and individual volunteers from throughout Northern Nevada including Partnership Carson City, Carson City Health and Human Services and Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey counties, are key partners in the event that will take place at Hug High School, 2880 Sutro Street in Reno.

Bicycle Maintenance Class at Bike Habitat

The Bike Habitat will be giving a free class this Wednesday the 9th at 6PM. The topic of the class is “Home Maintenance for your Bicycle”. Learn how to keep your bike running safely and efficiently between bike shop tune ups. This clinic will cover both MTN and Road Bikes.
