Pops Party Concert at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City on Sunday

The beautiful back lawn of the Governor's Mansion is the site of the Carson City Symphony's thirty-first annual Pops Party concert on Sunday, June 14, at 3:00 p.m. The program features the Carson City Symphony, Carson City Symphony Chorus, and guest singer Cindee LeVal.

Grounds open and pre-concert entertainment by the Regency Strings strolling duo (Cecilia Twain, violin, and George Worth, bass) begins at 2 p.m. The Naughty Tea Mistresses will be there, too!

Harmonica and Strings Festival and Free Concert May 9

On Saturday, May 9, Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools will present a Festival for Harmonicas and Strings at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive, Carson City. The half-day event includes a workshop from 9:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for string players of all ages, a potluck lunch, and a public concert beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Carson City Symphony’s “Strings in the Schools” ensembles, conducted by Education Director Sue Jesch, will perform on Tuesday, March 26, 6:30 p.m., at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street.

The Spring Concert will include a new work, "Reflections," written for the advanced orchestra, STRAZZ, by Gary A. Edwards, a composer from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Guest artist Tom Stryker, a noted harmonica player, and composer Edwards, a guitarist, will play the piece along with the students.

Comma Coffee welcomes the George Cole Quintet

A truly cool jazzy mix of croon, guitar and violin will be served up on Saturday, April 30, at Comma Coffee as they welcome The George Cole Quintet. This superbly crafted and melodically sophisticated original music group is a nice reminder of the best of George Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, and Cole Porter. Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
