Senators on their way to making history
Senators on their way to making history

OK maybe it's a little early to be asking this and one could be becoming carried away by entertaining such a dream, but the question was asked. Can the Carson High football team win the NIAA 4A State title?
"We're not thinking about state," said Dylan Sawyers, who had another big game for the Senators. "I still think we have some room for improvement."
That's saying something since CHS rolled to a 50-0 win over North Valleys on Friday at Carson in the first round of the Northern 4A playoffs. Carson advanced to host a zone semifinal matchup with Galena, an impressive 31-14 winner over Spanish Springs, at 7 p.m. next Friday. In the other semifinal it will be Reed, a 30-24 winner of Manogue, against McQueen, which beat Douglas 23-20 in overtime. "It's going to be a big battle," said CHS coach Blair Roman before he knew who his opponent was going to be. "Whoever it is we're going to be in a big, big game."
To say it's a big game would be an understatement because Carson will try to become the first team in school history to win 10 games in a season. CHS is now 9-2, becoming the first team since Carson has played at the 3A and 4A level to win nine games. CHS also equaled the nine-win total set by the 1964 state championship team that went 9-0.
As it has done for much of the season, CHS used turnovers to roll against North Valleys. Carson intercepted Panther quarterback Tim Herman four times and now has an amazing turnover advantage of 29-5 on the season.
