Changes in mobile content posting for Carson Now

However, few people actually used this method, and it tended to cause more problems than it solved. We finally pulled the plug on this feature last week.
Ribbon cutting at The LED Light

The store offers just about everything you can think of that uses LED lights, known for their energy savings and versatility. Some of the more interesting items: light-up dog frisbees, a camping lantern that runs 45 hours on one set of batteries, LED grow lights for plants, and a strip of lights that you can place under your kitchen counters.
Jackpot Crossing casino now open
Submitted by admin on Mon, 05/03/2010 - 9:57pmThe former Silver Dollar Club, now Jackpot Crossing, is open on Fairview, one block south of Highway 50 East.
The casino was purchased by Northern Nevada Comstock Investments last year, who shut the business down in August for a complete remodel. The company also owns Cactus Jack's, The Senator Club and the Comstock Casino in Carson City, as well as casinos in Fernley and Fallon.

Nevada Commission on Tourism launches summer ad campaign
Submitted by editor on Fri, 04/30/2010 - 1:08pmCARSON CITY — Nevada is launching a new summer ad campaign aimed largely at the massive online and television markets to entice visitors to the Silver State, Lt. Gov. Brian K. Krolicki, Nevada Commission on Tourism chair, announced this week.
“Our goal is to convince spring and summer travelers that Nevada is their best bet to experience an unforgettable vacation for outstanding value,” Krolicki said. “We’re taking our ads to the busiest marketplaces, where potential travelers spend the most time and are more likely to be influenced.”
Lake Tahoe's McCall Realty to donate all 2010 profits to nonprofit children's programs

Grand opening celebration Dick Campagni's Carson City Toyota

Champagne, appetizers and a string ensemble were on hand to liven up the festivities. Mayor Crowell and other city officials were on hand, with everyone hoping that the new dealership will help boost car sales, along with sales tax revenue.

Growing pains for Carson Now

The traffic for this site has more than doubled over the last six weeks. That traffic finally caught up with us on Monday, and became too much for our old web server to handle.

New restaurant opening inside of Doppelgangers

There there will be a "soft" opening beginning next week, with an official grand opening on May 1.
The new restaurant incorporates indoor dining space as well as the outdoor patio on Curry Street that has been a popular warm-weather gathering place in the past.
They feature a new menu to go along with Doppelgangers' selection of site-brewed beer, from Carson City's only brewery. (See attached menu)
Paradise Cove and more opening this week in the Carson Mall

One thing that should be noted is that the much-maligned decision by the city to provide millions in redevelopment funds to Campagni and Michael Hohl to build their new dealerships has provided some much-needed jobs to Carson City at a critical time. How much worse would our local economy be without these projects?
