Erich Obermayr files to run as Democratic challenger for Nevada Assembly District 39
Erich Obermayr, a long-time Lyon County resident and Chair of the Comstock Democratic Club, filed Monday for Nevada State Assembly District 39 at the Secretary of State offices in Carson City.
In a time of political extremism, District 39 needs an assemblyman who can focus on the basics of governing: passing legislation that advances economic opportunity, health, education, safety, and quality of life for all Nevadans. Mr. Obermayr will bring an open mind, diligence, and dignity to the office.
He understands the best legislative outcomes often require bipartisanship, compromise, and respect for the ideas of others—all within core principles of right and wrong.
Mr. Obermayr’s career has taken him from minimum wage jobs through earning a comfortable professional living. He has also experienced the challenges and satisfaction of being his own boss as a small business owner. He found a trade as a field archaeologist, which led to a career in cultural resource management, and he has written widely about Nevada history and archaeology.
Mr. Obermayr is currently Chair of the Silver City Citizen Advisory Board. His many years of service on that Board have given him an understanding of the workings of government, and the importance of ethics and good judgement on the part of those who hold public office.
