Girl Scouts at Home program available free online
Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada and Girl Scouts of the USA are excited to announce the launch of their Girl Scouts at Home programming. Girl Scouts at Home offers all girls — whether they are registered Girl Scouts or not — access to Girl Scout activities.
For each age group, ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade, Girl Scouts offer s a wide variety of enriching activities plus full badge activity guides that allow girls to earn official Girl Scout badges. Additionally, GSUSA partnered with the national Girl Scout community to offer special videos leading girls through this new Girl Scout experience.
For more than 108 years, Girls Scouts has provided premier leadership programs for girls. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, Girl Scouts made quilts, provided meals and volunteered in hospitals. During WWI and WWII, they sold war bonds, collected peach pits for gas masks, and collected metal. Today, in Spanish Springs, Girl Scouts make masks to distribute to vulnerable people and others in need.
Girl Scout at Home ensures that girls in Carson City can continue, or start, their Girl Scout journey by allowing girls to earn badges, serve their community and build self-efficacy during times of great uncertainty.
“Our goal is to keep our current members optimistic and engaged with the Girl Scout experience they know and love while letting new families know that we are here for them too. At a time when every aspect of our girls’ lives is being disrupted, we continue offering the same skill-building, goal-setting, leadership experience,” said Interim Chief Executive Officer Heidi Howe.
Carson City families can access Girl Scouts at Home by visiting gssn.org/athome. GSSN and GSUSA will add new content to their Girl Scouts at Home pages every week.
