Major Fire Danger: Red Flag Warning issued for Carson City, much of Western Nevada region Friday
A red flag warning has been issued by the national weather service for Friday, June 14 for much of western Nevada.
A major weather risk means the combination of gusty winds and low humidity could cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them, according to the weather service.
The National Weather Service in Reno has upgraded the Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from 2 PM to 10 PM PDT Friday.
* CHANGES...Fire Weather Watch Upgraded to a Red Flag Warning.
* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 420 Northern Sierra Front
including Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Southern Washoe,
Western Lyon and and Far Southern Lassen Counties.
* Winds...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* Humidity...As low as 10 to 15 percent.
* Duration...3 to 6 hours.
* Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.

Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires. Follow local fire restrictions.
