Northern Nevadan McAvoy Lane gives his final performance as Mark Twain
On Sept. 30 the final evening show with Mark Twain, dedicated to Steven Saylor and the volunteers of The Comstock Foundation for History & Culture will take place at Piper's Opera House.
"Thank you, Comstock Foundation, for championing Nevada’s favorite son in Carson City’s first annual Mark Twain Days Festival," McAvoy Layne Mark Twain said. "Having had the honor of portraying The Bohemian of the Sagebrush for 35 years, I am looking forward to a Last Hurrah at Piper’s Opera House, where it all started for us back in the summer of ’88."
Layne is a winner of the Nevada Award for Excellence in School and Library Service. He played the ghost of Samuel Clemens in the Biography Channel’s episode of Mark Twain and the Discovery Channel’s Cronkite Award-winning documentary, "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn."
"It’s like being a Monday through Friday preacher, whose sermon, though not reverently pious, is fervently American," Layne said.
The Trouble begins at 7:00 pm, but doors open at 6:30 pm. Individual Seats are $100.
