Eastern Sierra history program features 'George Whittell, the Accidental Conservationist'
Monday, Dec. 26 at 1 p.m., Wylder Hotel Hope Valley continues its Eastern Sierra history series with a Chautauqua presentation of George Whittell, The Accidental Conservationist.
Eastern Sierra historians David and Gayle Woodruff take on the characters of one of the wealthiest couples in the United States in the 1930s, who kept an African Lion for a pet, built one of the most beautiful pleasure craft to navigate Lake Tahoe, entertained former Presidents, and unintentionally conserved a large portion of Lake Tahoe lands for the public to enjoy today.
The 50 minute program is free and open to the public, and will be at the Wylder General Store, located 1/10th of a mile east of Wylder Resort Hope Valley on CA Hwy 88, Hope Valley. Call David at 760 920-8061 for more information.
