— Keeping Up with Dynamic Changes in Digital Marketing. 8:30 a.m. The future of marketing is here – ready or not! Though you may not be familiar with some of the “dynamic changes,” that have taken place – and continue to take place – in the field of marketing to keep up with trends to gain new customers, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and Sierra Nevada Media Group are collaborating to bring you the latest, greatest marketing trends. Over a two-hour period, Rob Galloway, Group Publisher of Sierra Nevada Media Group, will break down the barriers to the new age of digital marketing. You won’t want to miss this one. — Tuesday Morning Walk: Conestoga Trail hosted by Muscle Powered. 9 a.m. Join Muscle Powered for its weekly Tuesday one hour walks to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet at the Powerline Road at 79-83 Conestoga Drive, 1/4 mile from Imus Road on Conestoga Drive. This is a dirt road. There is a slight elevation going up the dirt road at the beginning but from there it is mostly leveled. There is parking on the side of the street. Water and closed-toe shoes required. All walks are 1 to 2 miles with duration of 1 hour with usually negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved or smooth paths.

— Computer Classes for Beginners at Carson City Library. 11:30 a.m. Various computer topics will be taught every week, including Mouse & Keyboard; Files, Folders, and Programs; the Internet; Email; and Windows 10.

— Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City Chapter to host Open House. 5:30 p.m. Join Polka Dot Powerhouse on Tuesday, May 7 at at Red's Old 395 Grill for an open house to learn more about Polka Dot Powerhouse, a unique women's connection group. — Tuesday night archery shoots return to Carson City's Centennial Park Archery Range. 5:30 p.m. Every Tuesday evening, 5:30 to dusk, the Clear Creek Bowmen host its Tuesday Night Archery Shoots at the Centennial Park Archery Range in Carson City. Both traditional and 3D targets are available. The target range is open shooting for use at no cost. There is a $5 fee (kids 17 and under are free) to shoot the 3D animal targets. We have archery equipment, volunteers and instructors to get you started. Come on out and join us. It’s a great way to experience the world of archery. Open to all ages. — Tuesday Evening Hike: ViCee Canyon hosted by Muscle Powered. 5:30 p.m. Join Muscle Powered for its free leader-led hikes each Tuesday evening to enjoy Nevada outdoors! Meet in the parking area at the south end of Murphy Drive and Vanpatten Avenue. Water and sturdy closed-toed shoes are required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended. Tuesday evening hikes begin at 5:30 pm and will be 4-6 miles in length. If it is raining, snowing and/or conditions of trail is not safe, hikes will be cancelled. — Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction class. 6 p.m. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction was developed at the University of Massachusetts by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. With over 30 years of research, this program has proven results. The course gives you will learn tools that will help you approach your life with more composure, energy, understanding and enthusiasm. Through learning mindful meditation techniques, you will develop more capacity for coping with short and long-term stressors in your life. In addition, this program can help people to develop the ability to manage and reduce pain levels. Through weekly homework, you will improve your focus, resilience and capacity to recover more quickly from life’s challenges. — Carson City group offers support, education to parents with children who have addictions. 6 p.m. A support group is restarting in Carson City for family members who have loved ones struggling with addictions. The group meets at a new location on Tuesday nights, 6 p.m. at Partnership Carson City meeting room at 1925 N Carson St. PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) is a support group of parents helping parents. We meet every week to offer education and support for parents or spouses dealing with an addicted family member. PAL is a faith-based Christian organization and our mission is to provide hope to families through education and support. — Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents 12 Angry Men. 6 p.m. Henry Fonda leads the cast of jurors who must confront their own morals before they hand down the ultimate penalty in what appears to be an open-and-shut case. General admission $4; free for students and members. Trivia and intro begin at 6:30 p.m. film at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:00pm at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall - 511 W. King Street. New this month, Wired Wednesday Digital Artists will present a brief film-making discussion prior to our films, beginning at 6 p.m. This month's topic - 12 steps to making a short film, as well as basics for future challenges and competitions. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing quality entertainment to our community and to advocating and supporting youth arts education.

— Empty Bowls Open Studio at Ogres-Holm Pottery. 6 to 8:30 p.m. Create an empty bowl to donate to charity, instruction will be offered to create and paint a bowl or create something on our own during open studio session. — Carson City Library Presents: Family Movie and Craft Night. 6 to 8 p.m. Craft the night away while watching Pokémon: The First Movie: Mewtwo, a bio-engineered Pokémon, escapes from the lab where it was created. It is determined to prove its own superiority by luring a number of trainers into a battle like never before. Ash and his friends are happy to accept the challenge. Registration is required. — Nevada Artists Association Presents: Landscape Show. Daily. Stop in and enjoy the diverse artwork on display from Nevada Artists Association (NAA) Members with featured artist Walter Daniels. With a current membership of 120-plus, boasting over thirty new members in the past few months alone, this show promises to be one for the books. — Dance Workshop for Couples at Yaple's Ballroom. In this beginner level workshop you must have a partner in this class, we will not be rotating. It can be a friend, husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend, you just have to have a buddy with you to be your partner. We are going to learn the style of dance of Night Club Two Step and some other exercises that will help you with your connection to your partner. $20. — Nevada Arts Council Presents: Facts and Figures. Daily, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Las Vegas artist Lolita Develay’s works consists mostly of oil paintings and watercolors executed in a trompe l’oeil (deceives the eye) intertwined with abstract features. She is currently exploring prevailing social values in American mainstream culture. These paintings embody her ultimate desire for lush surfaces and the luxury of time that allowed them to be created. — Student art show open at WNC’s Main Gallery at Carson City campus. Daily. The artistic talents of Western Nevada College students will be on display in the college art gallery for the next month. The 2019 Student Art Show will be shown through Wednesday, May 15 in the Bristlecone Building on WNC’s Carson City campus.The exhibit features juried artwork from WNC students who were enrolled in classes during the fall or are currently enrolled during the spring semester. Students will compete for first, second and third places in drawing, painting, collage, photography, graphic art, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media. Students will also have the opportunity to price and sell their artwork. WNC’s Main Gallery is located in the Bristlecone Building and is open to the public six days a week: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

— Carson City art exhibition 'Creative Spark' features 32 area high school artists. The Capital City Arts Initiative hosts its exhibition, Creative Spark, at the Community Development Building, also known as the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Thirty-two students from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Pioneer high schools have work in the exhibit. The free exhibition is available to the public now through May 29, 2019, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Creative Spark includes a wide variety of art media including ceramics, collage, drawing, painting, and photography that show the diversity of the students’ creativity.

— Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'The Lay of the Land' at Carson City showing. The Capital City Arts Initiative presents an exhibition, "The Lay of the Land," by artist Fred Howland in the Community Center’s Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition runs now through June 30, 2019. Howland’s passion is to create a sense of time and place through his photographs. He returns to favorite sites to work, like Hope Valley and Genoa, returning to take repeat images in different seasons and lighting. His interest in landscapes go back to his New England roots where he was more comfortable in the outdoors than in school classrooms. The Sierra Room is open to the public during Carson City official meetings including the first and third Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and many afternoons, Monday through Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m.

— "Home Means Nevada" photo exhibit debut at the Nevada Legislature. The Nevada Arts Council is unveiling a new traveling photo exhibition, “Home Means Nevada” that will start its journey in the hallways of the Nevada Legislature during the 2019 session. The exhibition features the works of 15 contemporary photographers, but which echoes famous photographs and artwork from the late 1800s and early 1900s that helped spur protections for many of our nation’s national parks. The exhibit highlights some of the unique treasures found on federally managed lands across the state, from bighorns to Burning Man, to the ancient rock art and petroglyphs in the Gold Butte area. The exhibition will be displayed in the Senate hallway of the Nevada Legislature, 401 S. Carson St. in Carson City.

— WNC Continuing Education offers Zumba classes. Zumba is a dance form and aerobics fitness program. Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic Latin and pop music from countries around the world. The choreography incorporates hip hop, soca, samba, salsa, meringue and mambo. Squats and lunges are also included. Students should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes, and bring a towel, water and a positive attitude. No prior dance experience is required — Zumba is about making friends, getting a workout, and enjoying yourself!
