Carson City deputies arrest pair for drug charges after they left a hotel known for 'heavy drug traffic'

A 21-year-old Carson City man and a 41-year-old transient woman were arrested in the 100 block of E. Long Street for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating bail conditions.

According to the report, Allen Lee Parkins and Kesa Dawn Pascal were arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after deputies spotted Parkins and Pascal leaving a hotel known for “heavy drug traffic.”

Deputies were conducting surveillance on the North Carson Street hotel when they saw the pair leave down an alley, and they made contact.

According to the report, they gave their IDs willingly. Deputies stated they knew Pascal from previous interactions with law enforcement.

Deputies asked Pascal if she had any contraband on her, and she admitted to having a “rig” or hypodermic device in her shirt pocket. A female deputy was dispatched to search Pascal, and a hypodermic device was recovered, which was found to contain methampehtamine.

Pascal was taken into custody.

Deputies asked Parkins if he had any drugs in his backpack. According to the report, Parkins stated he had just picked up his backpack, but there might be drugs inside. Deputies asked for consent to search his backpack, which he gave.

Deputies located two baggies of methamphetamine, two baggies of heroin, and two baggies of marijuana. Dispatch advised Parkins is on supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing with a no drugs clause.

He said there was insurance on the vehicle as well, but was not able to provide proof.

Deputies ran his information, and K-9 Deputy Ivo was dispatched to the scene to perform a free air exterior sniff of the vehicle.

With outside temperatures often in the 90s and above, internal car temperatures can reach anywhere from 114 degrees after 10 minutes, to 140 degrees after an hour. Today I started pruning out the water sprouts in my four crabapple trees. Some people might call these “suckers,” but suckers grow up from the bottom of the trunk and water sprouts grow in the upper parts of the tree. I have been training three of these trees into a somewhat flattened umbrella shape for almost 20 years. The water sprouts just ruin that effect. So, out they come.
