Teen takes COVID-19 quilt on U.S. tour, will be in Carson City today at capitol complex
A Seattle area high school student will pass through Carson City today, Wednesday, and will be at the state capitol building to display a quilt he designed to raise awareness of COVID-19.
William Stich-Smith began the journey June 28 from Olympia, Wash. He plans to visit all 50 states and, possibly take his quilt worldwide. He said he made the COVID-19 Pandemic quilt because, "the 2020 pandemic will be known throughout history and I wanted to make something to commemorate the impact on the world it has and will have."
William will be in Carson City at Nevada State Capitol complex at 12:30 p.m. and will display the quilt for around 30 minutes and then will take the quilt onto Reno and then Las Vegas.
The goal is to take the quilt to all 50 state capitols, and then worldwide, according to his mother. He is raising money through contributions made through Go Fund Me.
"I want to take this quilt to every country that has been affected and have it stamped by the Country, like a postage stamp. Furthermore, I would like to have impacted population written on the quilt for each country to serve as a marker on the vast impact this virus has had on the world," according to his web page, which can be found here.
