Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of drug sales, possession
A 54-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of sales and transport of a controlled substance, and third offense possession of a controlled substance, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Henry Gerling of South Lake Tahoe was arrested at 9:19 p.m. He was also booked for suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapon, a gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the booking report, the driver was stopped for not having a license plate and speeding 37 mph in a 25 mph zone. The driver told deputies he did not have a license and dispatch confirmed he did not have a valid license in Nevada and California.
During the investigation a K9 alerted positive for drugs in the vehicle. Deputies located a bag of suspected narcotics that had two packaged baggies inside, one that weighed 11.1 grams, and a bag weighing 1.2 grams, and a package of a suspected narcotic that weighed 0.5 grams.
The deputy notes that due to the national fentanyl exposure and increase in people using it, he did not open the smaller package, located in a baggie that was inside a hard plastic container, which contained burnt foil with a substance inside of it. Instead it was weighed and photographed.
Also located was a glass methamphetamine bong and brass knuckles. Bail: $30,000.
In other arrests:
— a 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of DUI. According to a booking report, dispatch was in contact by a reporting party who advised there was possibly an intoxicated male driver in the parking lot of an East Long Street apartment complex.
A deputy arrived and was unable to located the vehicle in the parking lot. The officer continued to look for the suspect vehicle and located it in the area of Rand and Long Street, stopped at an intersection. The driver was was followed by the deputy, where they observed the vehicle veer into oncoming traffic, nearly causing a collision. The deputy conducted a traffic stop, where the suspect vehicle came to a stop at the apartment complex.
The driver stated he had gone to the store to get milk, however, it was later determined that instead of milk the man bought a bottle of McCormick's vodka.
Deputies spoke with the man, who had slurred speech and a light odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The driver agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .111 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.
A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor parole and probation warrant issued Sept. 3, 2019. No bail hold in lieu of a hearing.
