Carson City Remedy’s Bar faces potential shutdown by supervisors due to licensing violations
On Sept. 21, Carson City Supervisors will discuss whether or not to suspend, cancel or revoke Remedy's bar business license after they failed to comply with city code by not having a liquor manager on staff.
According to the agenda, on July 7 city staff made contact with the ex-liquor manager of Remedy’s to confirm she was still within the position. The ex-employee told the city she was no longer employed with Remedy’s.
On July 26, staff sent a letter to Remedy’s advising that because the approved liquor manager no longer worked for the business, an application for a new liquor manager should be submitted as soon as possible.
On Aug. 3, a person who identified herself as the new business owner of Remedy’s visited the counter at the Business License Division and obtained both a business license application and a liquor license application. They told staff they would complete the applications and return the next day.
To date, this person has not submitted any paperwork.
According to the records of the Secretary of State’s Office, the entity status of Remedy’s Bar LLC is “default.”
During the supervisor’s meeting, a discussion will be held on when a where a show cause hearing will take place, which will require the business owner of Remedy’s to come before the board and explain why they are not following municipal code.
The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting takes place Thursday, Sept. 21 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
