It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful man, our dad, a grandpa, a great grandpa and a friend to so many. LeRoy Pedro passed away peacefully on the morning of November 21, 2022. Most mornings started with LeRoy sitting in his chair enjoying the outside scenery and having his one cup of coffee.
On November 21, his morning started in heaven with the most beautiful sunrise you could imagine being greeted by the love of his life, Wanda Pedro and his granddaughter, Crystal Briscoe.
LeRoy was a man of routine. We felt his longevity and the secret of his success consisted of his routine and his love for his family, animals and gardening. LeRoy started his life in Brainard, Nebraska on May 1, 1934. In 1948 He moved to Fallon, Nevada to work on his father’s dairy ranch. He graduated with honors from Fallon High School. In 1956 while delivering milk to Reno he met and soon after married Wanda Bruffett.
They moved to Reno and shortly thereafter moved to Carson City where he went to work for the Nevada State Prison as the ranch manager of the dairy. He had a great work ethic and always put everything he had into what he was doing.
During his first year as manager of the dairy ranch he received a letter of outstanding performance from then Governor Paul Laxalt for improving the dairy herd from one of the poorest in the state to No 2 statewide and No 1 in Carson Valley. In 1988 he retired from the State of Nevada and enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Carson City Elks Lodge for 28 years and spent over 20 of those years as Trustee. As an Elk he received many certificates for his accomplishments including Officer of the Year, Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding service and contributions, Distinguished Service Certificate, and a Special Citation from the Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks.
He loved to cook and cooked many Friday night dinners at the Elks and hosted fourth of July parties at his home to benefit the veterans. He loved playing shuffleboard and was known by the members of the Elks for his outstanding shuffleboard skills and usually taking first place.
LeRoy was a man of his word with lots of wisdom and love and was respected not only by his family but by everyone who met him. LeRoy is survived by his four children, Sherry Manning (Dennis), Loretta Fagan (Pat), Terry Burton (Larry) and Roy Wayne Pedro (Silvia), 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Please come join us in celebrating the life of LeRoy Pedro. A viewing will be held on November 30, 2022 from 12:00 – 3:00 at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley (Roop St), with a funeral Mass at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church (Lompa Ln) on December 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the Elks Lodge (Nevada St). We love you Dad and will miss you until we meet again sweet dreams, see you in Heaven.
