What Works: What can you learn from the last decade?

Last day of the decade! I feel peaceful, which is not what I felt at all at the beginning of this pivotal decade. I’m thinking about me in 2010. So different! The progression this decade has been significant. I have a challenge for you all. Write out the highlights of each decade. Map your progress. What can you learn from the last decade?

2010: Had to file bankruptcy, married and living in a house we could barely afford. Trying to keep up appearances, “make it” and “look happy.” Freelancing in marketing as much as I could but wanting my career back after being laid off in 2009. Deeply, soulfully. Unhappy. Had a group of friends in Dallas, and a few in So Cal who saw it all.

2011: Started getting interviews in Los Angeles again. Watched The Secret and wanted to manifest radical positive change. Didn’t turn out how I special ordered it. Story of what followed now in the book Reno Rising on Amazon. Moved here and started working for an expert in that movie as a ghostwriter, met Ken.

2012: Asked husband to leave. Did my very first vision board. Started being more social. Came out into the world and realized I didn’t know who I was. Made a few lasting friends including Kristi and Cathy.

2013: Got divorced and moved into the house I am in now. Entertained a lot. Got a contract with the state as a communications consultant. Was on three boards. Met more lasting friends like Colleen and Jessa and got on stage again for the first time since high school.

2014: Decided it was time to put a cooler on the drinking and stopped. Continued work at the state. Met Xines when I started belly dancing. Thought it might be fun to start volunteering with Burning Man and start writing my column on CarsonNow.

2015: A year of personal development, Pathways work began and I went all in. I started to unravel my old stories and take some responsibility for my actions. I used AirBnb for the first time. Met Allyson acting on Polar Express. Met John.

2016: More personal development, including finding Brendon Burchard and going to my first HPA. Started my Masters at USC. Went to New Orleans and bought a Bliss voodoo doll. I got laid off two months later from a software company and started my consulting firm I have today.

2017: The tail end of the Brendon years, ready for a big shift I traveled to Boston to see Ken at the end of this year and the trip was life changing. I figured out important things about myself and prepared to step into my power. Burned my wedding dress in the temple at Burning Man. I call these years the hallway of my career. Met Halle and started coaching on her team.

2018: I stepped into my power and met another circle of supportive friends. I walked and graduated at USC with my Master of Communication Management with a 4.0 GPA, inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. More hallway years with the career. I kept plugging along.

2019: Took a little dip into what my newfound power could bring me. Flew planes, skied. Did so boldly and badly. Went down to So Cal a lot and realized home is where I make it and sometimes things I want will be blessed or blocked. Found a women’s circle. Deepened my spirituality. Went to rock concerts. Stopped holding assumptions and took action to test. Started consulting with Irit. Biggest Nevada client came back on board. Became more conscious about all things and recommitted to my self care, health, and total well being. Starting to realize I haven’t allowed myself the freedom self employment brings - awakening to possibility.

What a decade!!!!

In 2020, I will be in Odd Couple and have a blast. I will take an international trip to Europe and several trips across the country. I will go to more concerts, sit in more spiritual circles, meet more people, and have more adventures. I will play! I will open myself to love now that I love myself and know who I am and what I want. I don’t drown myself in anything to run away. I will be the healthiest I have ever been in all ways. I will nurture my friendships. I will start to share my voice with a new radio show and write more to share the inspiration. I will take on remote work that inspires me and others.

2020 will be an ADVENTURE!
