Students returned to the Pioneer High School campus Tuesday and found the new CZJ Recording Studio, which was installed over the summer.

The entire project was the dream of PHS student, Zaca U. He shared his idea for Pioneer to have a sound recording studio for students to exercise their creative musical talents.

With today's start of the Fall 2020 school year, Carson City School District officials note schools will run differently this time around due to the pandemic. Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, meals (breakfast and lunch together) for students in the Carson City School District will be available at all school sites for pick up from 9-11 a.m. Students may go to any school to get meals regardless of the school they attend.

Western Nevada College is proud to announce that 93 students have qualified for the 2020 Summer Dean’s List.
To earn this recognition during the summer session, students attained a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and completed six units of classes or more.

A Public Utilities Commission of Nevada telephonic consumer session will be held Thursday to discuss NV Energy rate reductions for customers. For Northern Nevada electric customers, the utility proposes to decrease rates an estimated $24.1 million or 3.47 percent across all rate classes, which would result in an estimated decrease in the average monthly residential bill of $2.09, or 2.92 percent.

The Carson City School District is making plans to re-open school this fall and is seeking parent and family feedback through an online 10-question survey. Given various school-related experiences caused by the pandemic, the school district is inviting families to take a few moments to share their thoughts, ideas and suggestions about returning to school. The Dayton Farmers Market opened for the 2020 season on June 11. The market will take place every Thursday this summer from 3 to 6 p.m. at 60 Second Avenue and Highway 50, across from Pizza Factory. Greater Nevada Credit Union has awarded 31 Nevada students with scholarships to continue their academic pursuits through the GNCU Scholarship Program. $22,000 went to eleven students from the Carson City area.
