— Tuesday Morning Walk - Fairview Multi-Use Path hosted by Muscle Powered. 9 a.m. Come and join Muscle Powered for its Tuesday weekly one hour walks to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet in empty lot by the 5th Street roundabout. (corner of 5th Street and Fairview Street) Water and closed-toe shoes required. All walks are 1 to 2 miles with duration of 1 hour with usually negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved or smooth paths. If it rains, snows, or trail conditions are not safe, meet at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC) at 1860 Russell Way. — Retired law enforcement officer, author to give talk at Nevada State Library. Noon. Learn about Nevada in small bites at the next Brown Bag Author Talk Series Tuesday, March 12 from 12-1 p.m. in training room 110 of the Nevada State Library, 100 N. Stewart Street in Carson City. Join author and retired Humboldt County Undersheriff Curtiss Kull as he spins true and exciting tales lof life in Humboldt County at the turn of the last century and reads from his historical fiction novel, "The Last Horseback Lawman." While keeping the peace in the vast and untamed wilderness of early 1900s Nevada, Humboldt County Sheriff S. Graham Lamb and his only deputy confront ranchers and cattle rustler, cowboys and killers, taverns, whore houses, and the occasional brawl. Light refreshments will be served at the event.

— Tuesday Evening Hike - Mayor's Park hosted by Muscle Powered. 5:30 p.m. Join Muscle Powered's free leader-led hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors! Meet at the corner of Koontz Lane and Center Drive. We will walk on sidewalks in the neighborhood near the park. For the winter, these hikes are moving onto paved paths in town and will be 4-6 miles long. BRING A FLASHLIGHT as it will be dark on these walks. Water and closed-toe shoes required. — Sierra Nevada Forum panel raises the question: Are we prepared for disaster? 5:30 p.m. Sierra Nevada Forums March presentation is a topic everyone in the Carson City area and throughout western Nevada should be considering: Are we prepared for a natural disaster like the one that happened in Paradise, Calif. last fall? The community is invited to attend this important discussion to learn about our community strategies currently in place that address flood, fires, earthquakes and pandemics. The speakers will enlighten guests about our region's disaster preparedness. Take the test to see if you are prepared. Are we living in an area similar to Paradise, Calif., which was devastated in a Nov. 8, 2018 wildfire? Are we ready for any other kinds of emergencies and natural disasters? The forum is today, Tuesday at the Brewery Art Center Performance Hall, 511 West King St., Carson City. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The presentation is free. Donations are gladly accepted.

— Carson Nugget celebrates 65th anniversary with champagne toast, episode 2 of "Casino Boss." Festivities start at 6 p.m. The Carson Nugget Casino Hotel celebrates its 65th anniversary with the grand opening of its new restaurant Angelina’s Bistro, a birthday cake and champagne toast, and the premiere of Casino Boss, episode 2 on Tuesday, March 12, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson Street. Episodes 1 and 2 of Casino Boss, the television sitcom created by the Nugget’s owner, Dean DiLullo, and filmed with a cast of celebrities, local comedians and extras from Carson City will be aired in the Carson Comedy Club, located inside the Carson Nugget beginning at 6 p.m. with free cake cutting and champagne toast at 7 p.m. at Angelina’s Bistro, inside the Carson Nugget Casino.

— Carson City group offers support, education to parents with children who have addictions. 6 p.m. A support group is restarting in Carson City for family members who have loved ones struggling with addictions. The group will meet at a new location on Tuesday nights, 6 p.m. at Partnership Carson City meeting room at 1925 N Carson St. PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) is a support group of parents helping parents. We meet every week to offer education and support for parents or spouses dealing with an addicted family member. — Empty Bowls Open Studio at Ogres-Holm Pottery. 6 to 8:30 p.m. Create an empty bowl to donate to charity, instruction will be offered to create and paint a bowl or create something on our own during open studio session. Open studio time is free of charge and open to the public. 1215 S. Carson St., Carson City.

— Carson Fly Fishing Club Meeting. 7 p.m. Join the Carson Fly Fishers and Guide Mike Curtis as he presents Pyramid Lake: The New Era, at their next meeting on Tuesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. at the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser Street in Carson City. There will be a fly tying demo at 6:30 p.m.

— Mile High Jazz Band presents 'Hang Ups: Big Band Jazz and Poetry' at Comma Coffee. 7:30 p.m. The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Jakki Ford will be joined by several poets and readers on Tuesday, March 12 for an evening of big-band music and poetry on the theme "Hang Ups." Each poem will be followed by a related big-band tune. The event will be at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. It runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door and free for age 18 and under. The program will feature Rita Geil, Krista Lukas, Susan Sara Priest, Timothy Rhodes, and Amy Roby reading their original poems and selected works by other published poets. “Hang Ups” will include humorous and serious selections to entertain people of all ages. Mile High Jazz Band performances are funded, in part, by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and by private donations.
