Nevada GOED hosts meeting to help small businesses compete for government contracts
The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development is hosting a free panel discussion next week in Reno for small businesses to learn the information they need to compete for government contracts.
The “Where’s the Contract?” panel discussion will be held in Reno on Friday, June 7, from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the Washoe County Government Center, 1001 E. Ninth St. GOED’s Nevada Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) Deputy Director Juan Manzano and Government Contracts Advisors Maggie Neidigh and John Rice will discuss best-practices and critical information small businesses need to get on the path to securing government contracts with city, state and federal government agencies.
“We will continue to provide resources for Nevada’s small businesses in an effort to afford them every opportunity to succeed,” Gov. Steve Sisolak said. “Small businesses employ more than 480,000 Nevadans and power our economy, so making sure that small businesses have the information they need to get government contracts in Nevada is a priority.”
GOED’s Nevada PTAC partnered with the Nevada Small Business Development Center for the event.
Nevada PTAC simplifies the process of competing for government contracts for small businesses by cutting through the red tape and connecting businesses with government contract opportunities through networking events, bid matching, proposal review and other training.
“By helping businesses with free workshops and seminars, Nevada PTAC stimulates new job creation and supports economic growth,” said Interim Executive Director Kris Sanchez. “Nevada has developed a reputation as a state that supports small businesses. We are always there to assist our small business entrepreneurs as they seek to expand in their communities, to other states and even to other countries.”
Attendees are asked to register for the free event by Wednesday, June 5, online and bring a one-page document of the company’s capabilities and business cards. The next “Where’s the Contract?” workshop will be on Aug. 2 in Reno.
