Carson City Election results point to a Mayoral, School Board Trustee face off though ballots are still outstanding

As ballots continue to be processed from last Tuesday's primary election, some Carson City seats are cinched while others are becoming closer by the day.
In order to avoid going to the general election, a candidate must receive 50 percent of the vote plus one. The election will officially be certified during the Carson City Board of Supervisors Canvass of the Vote happening Friday, June 21. It is unclear at this time how many ballots are left to be counted.
Mayor Lori Bagwell and candidate Jim Shirk appear to be heading back to the polls, although votes still have not been finalized and there are still ballots outstanding. Bagwell received 45 percent of the vote whereas Shirk received 30.77 percent.
Melanie Bruketta appears to have won her bid for Justice of the Peace with 56 percent of the vote.
In the Carson City election (not the statewide numbers), Senator Jacky Rosen (D) has won her re-election with 93 percent of the votes, along with candidate Sam Brown (R) who won his bid for state senator amid a dozen candidates.
Congressman Mark Amodei (R) received 64 percent of the vote against Fred "Doc" Simon Jr. (35.67 percent) and also appears to have secured his spot.
State Assemblyman PK O'Neill (R) of District 40 secured his seat by a wide margin with 78 percent of the vote.
Similarly Carol L. Del Carlo has secured her seat with 62.15 percent of the vote for State University District 9 Regent.
Whether or not Angela Orr for State Board of Education District 2 has secured her seat remains to be seen, with only 50.07 percent of the vote and some ballots still outstanding.
The line is even closer for Carson City School Trustee for District 7 Michelle Pederesen, who has received 48.80 percent of the vote. If she cannot secure over 50 percent of the vote, she will face off with either John Henley (26.48 percent) or Joy Trushenski (24.72 percent) in November.
