Carson City arrests: Man jailed for embezzlement warrant, failure to register as sex offender

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 470 block of Clear Creek for felony suspicion of being a sex offender failing to register and warrants for failing to register in Lyon County, embezzlement and being a fugitive from justice, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Cody Larson also faces two misdemeanor charges, being an ex-felon failing to register and failure to appear in court for a traffic violation. According to the arrest report, deputies, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service located the man at a residence and arrested him. Bail: $21,197.
In other bookings:
— A 33-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 2:55 a.m. in the area of Nevada Street at Nevada Street and Fleischmann for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, driving with a suspended registration, failure to maintain a lane of traffic, and a contempt of court warrant.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a car stopped in the middle of West Park Street. The officer pulled behind the vehicle and performed a registration check, which returned as being suspended. The vehicle then turned southbound on North Nevada Street. The officer performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Nevada and Fleischmann.
The officer made contact with the driver and while speaking with the woman, the vehicle began to roll forward without the woman noticing. The officer asked the woman to put her foot on the brake and place the vehicle in the park position.
Dispatch advised the woman had a warrant for her arrest. The officer informed the woman of the warrant and took her into custody. She was extremely upset and began yelling and screaming in the middle of the road, the arrest report states. The officer placed her in the back of his patrol vehicle where she continued to yell and scream. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the woman. He was able to get her to calm down once they arrived at jail.
The deputy then asked if she would be willing to take standardized field sobriety tests. She agreed and showed signs of impairment. She voluntarily provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .223, the arrest report states. In the pre-booking area she provided breath evidentiary samples of .187 and .182. Bail: $4,336.
— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 1:21 p.m. in the 1500 block of Gregg Street on a misdemeanor warrant for violation of a suspended sentenced issued Aug. 18, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 11;18 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Carson Street on gross misdemeanor suspicion of DUI second offense and misdemeanor failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
According to the arrest report, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that continued through intersections without stopping, finally coming to a stop at a South Carson Street convenience store.
The deputy observed the man showed signs of intoxication, had a strong odor of alcohol and was wobbly and swayed from side to side as the deputy spoke with him, the arrest report states. He volunteered to perform standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a .203. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and volunteered at jail to provide blood samples for evidentiary testing. He had a prior conviction of DUI within the past 7 years. Bail: $2,692.
