Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

It's National Adoption Weekend, and Carson City will be hosting its own adoption event at Petsmart, featuring dogs from local canine rescue, Res-Que.

Heading into Saturday, May 18, 2019 we say welcome to the weekend Carson City. Activities abound throughout the region. Bring an umbrella as the forecast calls for some showers. Carson City’s own Friends In Service Helping unveiled the new Crisis Cab on Friday morning along with breakfast.

The Crisis Cab is FISH’s transport vehicle, which will be used to transport those in crisis to Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center, a department of Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare.

Take a spin in a new Ford vehicle this Saturday at Carson Mall in Carson City and help local disabled American veterans. For every test drive taken, Ford Motor Company through Capital Ford in Carson City will donate $20 to the Disabled American Veterans local chapter for a total of $6,000.

CARSON CITY – Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans with free Dream Flights, is adding a re-stored 1943 Stearman biplane to its fleet, thanks to the fundraising efforts of a local community in Wisconsin.

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Hello dear friends in the Carson City area. Our friend, David Mickelson, is pretty close to getting his kidney transplant. In fact, we're excited to announce that he is scheduled to have his kidney transplant on May 31!

We still need to do a lot of fundraising, so we plan to have a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, May 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Espolon's Grill in Mound House. The tickets are $12 each and all the proceeds go to David to cover some of his expenses for his transplant. Your ticket will give you spaghetti, meatballs, salad and garlic bread. Drinks sold separately. Here’s a recap.

The Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary, in one of its most popular fundraisers, will host its 6th annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train from Carson City to Virginia City on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

The special event train leaves the Eastgate Depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. and arrives in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m. The train arrives back in Carson City before 4:30 p.m. Tickets are pre-sold, and guests are asked to be at the Eastgate Depot by 9:30 a.m.

While our newest season officially arrived March 20th, it seems just now I am starting to believe winter is finally losing its grip and giving way to the kinder, gentler, days of spring. With each day, I see a little more of the renewal of life we have come to associate with this time of year.

At the 27th annual Band-O-Rama at Carson High School, Greater Nevada Credit Union proudly presented the Carson High School Blue Thunder Marching Band with a sponsorship check for the 2018-2019 school year.

In an effort to ensure Carson City Sheriff’s Office officers are able to meet the physical demands associated with law enforcement, the department is sponsoring the construction of a new fitness facility.

I just returned from Orange, Virginia from a conference held at Montpelier, former US President James Madison's estate. I was chosen among applicants to attend this conference because I think our community needs to know the cool educational opportunities in which teachers are embarking. The conference covered “Gender, Sexual Identity, and the Constitution.”

Since 1875 The Kentucky Derby has been a celebration of Southern culture and an icon of Americana. The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada in Carson City has joined in on that celebration for 11 years making it one of the biggest fundraisers for the organization.

CARSON CITY — A total of 93 Career and Technical Education (CTE) and HOSA (Future Health Professionals) students competed in the Nevada State Leadership Conference held at the Rio in Las Vegas March 18-20.

There were a total of 74 students from Carson High School (CHS), 6 from Pioneer High School (PHS) and 13 from Carson Middle School (CMS). More than 1,000 students from across the state of Nevada competed in more than 40 medical competition events.

Hello Community! I want to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Cassidy Davis and I am the owner of Northern Nevada HotSpot as well as the founder of a local organization, Faith Hope Love of Northern Nevada. I created my business as well as my organization to help bless the lives of those in our local Northern Nevada communities. I use to wonder what my life purpose was and how I could help to make a difference. I tried a few things here and there, but never felt I was really doing anything that truly blessed anyone.

Life Cycle Nevada will host a 24-hour community ride for charity in Carson City beginning Friday. Ten teams have signed up and have raised around $2,000 so far for the Boys and Girls Club Healthy Habits program.

Tip-a-Cop to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada on March 28 the from 4 to 8 p.m. at 1st & 10 Bar and Grill, 240 Dayton Valley Road. Tip-A-Cop is a annual fundraising event organized by The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, where law enforcement officers volunteer their time as “celebrity waiters” in restaurants and receive tips to raise funds for Special Olympics, the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities. The National Student Nurses’ Association Western Nevada Chapter is holding the spaghetti feed at 6 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Community Hall in the Aspen Building.
