Senator Square: Carson High School, Empire students share Carson River experience

Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Spaghetti Fundraiser for David Mickelsen's Kidney transplant

Hello dear friends in the Carson City area. Our friend, David Mickelson, is pretty close to getting his kidney transplant. In fact, we're excited to announce that he is scheduled to have his kidney transplant on May 31!

We still need to do a lot of fundraising, so we plan to have a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, May 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Espolon's Grill in Mound House. The tickets are $12 each and all the proceeds go to David to cover some of his expenses for his transplant. Your ticket will give you spaghetti, meatballs, salad and garlic bread. All Aboard: Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary to host annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train

The Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary, in one of its most popular fundraisers, will host its 6th annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train from Carson City to Virginia City on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

The special event train leaves the Eastgate Depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. and arrives in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m. The train arrives back in Carson City before 4:30 p.m. Tickets are pre-sold, and guests are asked to be at the Eastgate Depot by 9:30 a.m.

Carson City HOSA students compete in state competition, take home 6 chapter awards

CARSON CITY — A total of 93 Career and Technical Education (CTE) and HOSA (Future Health Professionals) students competed in the Nevada State Leadership Conference held at the Rio in Las Vegas March 18-20.

There were a total of 74 students from Carson High School (CHS), 6 from Pioneer High School (PHS) and 13 from Carson Middle School (CMS). More than 1,000 students from across the state of Nevada competed in more than 40 medical competition events.
