Burlington in south Carson City to close, employees 'provided opportunities' at other stores
Burlington in south Carson City will close April 19, according to a company spokeswoman in emails.
The Carson City store, which opened in 2008, is a national off-price department store retailer.
A store manager declined to speak about the closing. The company spokeswoman, on behalf of the company's corporate office, was asked in an email how many people are currently employed and if they were offered employment at stores in nearby Reno and Sparks.
This was the reply: "Burlington’s store in Carson City is slated to close on April 19th. Customers can continue to find great deals at our wow prices on their favorite brands at our area locations. Associates from the Carson City location were provided opportunities at our other area stores."
There have been rumors circulating via social media of a hobby chain store coming to the location. Carson City Community Development Director Hope Sullivan said her office has not seen any plans submitted to the city's planning division.
We will update as more information becomes available.
